CARE: Advocate Office for Sexual and Gender Based Violence and Sexual Misconduct
If you would like to request poster prints, please contact CARE@sa.ucsb.edu
We provide free and confidential counseling and advocacy. Advocacy begins with conversations about how you have been affected, either as a survivor, or as a friend, significant other or family member of a survivor. Other services include:
- crisis counseling
- assistance with, and answers to questions about, medical and legal procedures and campus judicial procedures
- help with academic and housing problems
- referrals to long-term counseling, support groups and other campus and community resources
The incidents may be recent or in the past. All these services are free and confidential and available to people of all gender identities, gender presentations, and sexual orientations. Sexual and domestic violence is prohibited by UCSB policies and state laws. CARE works with both systems to aid survivors of this crime and hold perpetrators accountable.
The Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women is responsible for coordinating activities authorized or undertaken under the Violence Against Women Acts of 1994 and 2000. University of California, Santa Barbara is honored to be a recipient of a three-year, $297,997 Campus Grant that will be used to improve sexual violence prevention and response efforts on campus.
