Arsya Sinha (she/her/hers) is a second year Biology major aiming to double minor in Religious Studies and English. As a WGSE volunteer, she hopes to understand and promote conversations about inequality and disparities in healthcare. In her free time, she enjoys working out, learning how to cook, and going on sunset walks :).


Casey Chen

Casey Chen (she/her/hers) is a third year Biology major and Poverty, Inequality, and Social Justice minor. She hopes to become a physician in the future to work in underserved communities and address the various disparities that exist in our healthcare system today. As a WGSE volunteer, she’s most excited to learn from all of the other amazing staff members and volunteers, engage in discussions about intersectional feminism, and create safe and supported spaces for marginalized communities here at UCSB. In her free time, she likes to exercise and go to the beach.

Simmy Kaur (she/her/hers) if a fourth year Statistics and Data Science major with a minor in Feminist Studies. She is passionate about destigmatizing conversations about mental health in South Asian Communities, decolonizing wellness, and cultivating intersectional approaches to social justice issues. She is motivated to create safe spaces that give folks a place to communicate, collaborate, and collectively heal. Simmy is excited to serve as a volunteer for the Women’s Center this school year!


 

Sophia Castro

Sophia Castro


Sophia Castro (she/her) is a third year Communication major and Sociocultural Linguistics minor. She appreciates meeting new people and hearing new perspectives. Sophia became a WGSE volunteer in order to foster intersectional, inclusive feminism for marginalized voices. She is passionate about promoting body positivity, destigmatizing mental health services, and helping other first-generation students navigate higher education. Sophia is excited to work with the WGSE staff to create safe and welcoming discussion spaces!


Sammie Chen

Sammie (she/her/hers) is a fourth year Aquatic Biology major who is passionate about advocating for disability rights and better healthcare for women. She is open about her disability and hopes to empower others through her transparency. When she’s not a student, she’s a content creator on Tiktok sharing her experience as a resource to others. She is excited to work alongside incredibly driven people at WGSE and hopes to contribute to their efforts of creating an inclusive space for all.


Kimberly Pang

Kimberly Pang


Kimberly Pang (she/her/hers) is a third-year English and Feminist Studies double major. As a WGSE volunteer, she hopes to engage in lively discussions with an intersectional feminist approach, learn from staff members and other volunteers, and help foster a safe space and sense of community at UCSB. Kimberly is passionate about reproductive justice, advocating for inclusive and accessible sex education, body and sex positivity, queer rights, and destigmatizing mental health in Asian American communities. She is excited to be a part of WGSE and work with the incredible staff and volunteers this year! 

 

Alex Ramirez

Alex Ramirez (she/her/hers) is a Biological Sciences major in her third year and is wholeheartedly driven to help people. Alex became involved as a WGSE volunteer in order to help address the intersectionality of feminism by engaging with events, joining in on discussions, and helping with any other duties. She is passionate about advocating for reproductive health, mental health, and equitable access to basic needs and services, just to name a few. In her free time, Alex likes to take her puppy, Luna, on walks, play basketball, and chef it up in the kitchen. She is looking forward to working with the WGSE staff and other volunteers this year!

 

Davina Reed

Davina Reed


Davina Reed (she/her/hers) is a second year Political Science major. She is curious and passionate about various issues, but she is especially driven to make an impact on issues regarding the climate crisis, mental health, equitable access to education as well as other basic needs and services. During her freetime, Davina indulges in numerous tv shows and is always open to any recommendations. She is excited to be a part of WGSE, and work with welcoming staff members and volunteers this year! 


Bella Velarde

Bella Velarde


Bella (she/they) is a second year transfer and fourth year Political Science major and is minoring in Theatre. She is so excited to end her undergraduate career by being given the opportunity to volunteer for the WGSE and help others learn the importance of the different programs and inclusive space that the WGSE offers. She hopes to continue to learn about ways she can start conversations about the importance of intersectional feminism and education. In her free time she enjoys baking, reading, and watching Netflix.


Melissa Garcia

Melissa Garcia (they/she/ella/elle) is a second year Feminist Studies and Chicana/o Studies Double Major with a Minor in Poverty, Inequality, and Social Justice. Melissa joined the WGSE Volunteer Program in order to raise awareness for communities of women and queer folks often left out of mainstream feminism. She is passionate about decolonizing the mind, body, and self and is a strong advocate of third world feminism, communism, and revolutionary action. Melissa hopes to pursue a career that focuses on sex worker’s rights, particularly queer sex workers of color. She hopes to introduce all of her beliefs and passions into the WGSE Program and open conversations surrounding these issues campus-wide. In her free time, Melissa enjoys reading, writing, and making art. 


Catie Parker

Catie Parker


Catie Parker (she/her/hers) is a second year Political Science and Communication double major. Catie is driven by her passion for intersectional feminism in issues of gun control, the multiracial experience, and art as activism. Her work with Sierra Service Project, Girl Up, and Girl Scouts of America has inspired her deep love of service and guides her in the work she plans to do with the WGSE volunteer program. In her free time, Catie enjoys practicing aerial, cooking new Korean dishes, playing with her dogs, and reading at the beach.
