    Clothesline Project: Shirt Making

    The Clothesline Project is a visual display dedicated to raising awareness about the reality of violence in our society. It is composed of t-shirts created by survivors of violence, or in honor of someone who has experienced violence. This event is for survivors of sexual assault and their allies to use art as a form of healing & solidarity. Shirts designed will be showcased as part of an empowering public art display in the arbor. Supplies for shirt making will be provided!

    Film Screening: "The Rape of Recy Taylor"

    Join CARE and MCC for a screening of this documentary that chronicles bravery of Recy Taylor. In 1944, Recy Taylor was raped by six white men. Common in Jim Crow South, few women spoke up in fear for their lives. Not Recy Taylor, who bravely identified her rapists. The NAACP sent its chief rape investigator Rosa Parks, who rallied support and triggered an unprecedented outcry for justice.

Artists from the Santa Barbara Community Artist's Workshop (CAW) will guide and empower participants utilizing the art modality of screen printing.
