UCSB Resource Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity

Faculty & Staff

Helping LGBT Students Accclimate and Succeed at the University

The Resource Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity operates a training program and a series of presentations geared and tailored towards faculty and staff departments called Safe Zone. We offer a two hour training that encourages action and reflection while also educating participants on the terminology and issues of the LGBT Community. For their participation, faculty and staff members receive a ‘safe zone’ pledge that they can post in their workplace.

The pledge indicates to students that faculty and staff members are supportive to the LGBT Community and are knowledgeable of campus resources. For Staff and Faculty Departments who may not be able to commit to a full two hour training session we offer a forty five minute presentation that goes over basic terms, and issues of the LGBT community.

Interested participants or departments may request a training or presentation by contacting our Assistant Director Cristina Madrigal.
